The opportunity
Have you ever established a bouldering First Ascent? Auyán-tepui is one of the oldest places on Earth, and the multisensorial trek to its summit takes you and your group through an inward and outward journey of ever changing landscapes that are better left undescribed and undefined. No hype, no words. Unveiling the adjectives is up to you.
On top, the mountain turns into a field of untouched, bullet stone. You, and your crew and no one else for days. Exploring a maze of quartzite boulders and unveiling new lines that will be yours to name.
The journey
From the Kamarata valley, up onto Auyán-tepui, and across a summit almost no one has stood on, let alone bouldered. Days to move over the rock. Fourteen days inside Canaima National Park, with arrival and departure in Caracas at each end. The group hikes up to heaven and, eight days later, a helicopter takes the group back to real life.
We pick you up at the airport and gather the team for a meet-and-greet dinner and a good night's sleep in a 4-star hotel.
Two flights take us from the civilized world into the quiet valley of Kamarata, the Pemón village where you leave who you were behind. Get ready for a very special blessing.
We immerse in the region and visit the Kavak Canyon and waterfall to finalize our acclimatization to a new way of existing. On this day you say goodbye to what you left behind.
The team is together and assembled, and a walk through the savanna takes us up the first step towards the summit of Auyán. Two days and two nights set us up for the summit.
The savanna fades away into a new horizon of ever-changing, indescribable landscape and an ocean of rock. Your journey inward takes hold. Now it's you, your friends and the tepui, approaching the place where we set camp for the coming days.
Unhurried days on the summit to explore the maze of rock and open problems that have never been climbed. You climb the few established classics and set first ascents at every level, resting when you want and pushing when the rock invites it. The mountain sets the pace.
A helicopter picks us up at camp and takes us to Canaima, with a flyover of Angel Falls, the tallest waterfall in the world. An evening in Canaima lets you assimilate the welcome of civilization before the flight back to the coast.
We take you to the airport and stay with you till your plane has taken off. By now, we're friends for life.

The boulderer
Have you ever wondered what climbing was like 25 years ago?
This is a true expedition, not a climbing gym with a view. During the journey you trek across ever changing and sometimes scrambly terrain to reach the summit, then live in a remote area for days. You have to be in strong hiking condition, comfortable with a multi-day effort in a remote, disconnected and uninhabited area. There are lines for every grade and first ascents for those who want them. The satellite phone is for emergencies; everything else is your own gift to feel like the rest of the world doesn't exist.
Auyán Bouldering is by application and vetting only. This is not for anyone.
